Havasu man arrested on felony drug, DUI charges
Lake Havasu City Police officers conducted a traffic stop on Christmas Eve when they allegedly observed a motorcycle driver to be riding without required protective eyewear. Officers watched 44-year-old Daaron L. Mills as he stopped at an intersection, where he allegedly had trouble balancing himself and his motorcycle. Officers contacted Mills, who could not provide a valid driver’s license, the report said. A records check showed that Mill’s driver’s license was suspended, according to officers.
Mills appeared to be visibly intoxicated when officers spoke to him, the report said, and he refused to submit to a series of field sobriety tests. Mills was handcuffed at the scene, and a search of his person allegedly yielded a pipe containing burnt residue and several narcotic pills. Mills was arrested and transported to Lake Havasu City Jail, where he allegedly declined to give a breath sample to record his level of alleged intoxication. Officers obtained a warrant to draw Mills’ blood, which will be tested to determine his blood-alcohol concentration at the time of his arrest.
Mills was charged with felony possession of narcotic drugs, felony DUI and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
