Fort Ticonderoga ferry wraps up season early
SHOREHAM, Vt. (AP) — The owners of the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry say it has made its final run of the season.
Officials say due to the low water level in Lake Champlain they can no longer transport cars across the two points of Shoreham, Vermont, and Ticonderoga, New York.
WCAX-TV reports that the cable ferry rarely closes this early. The last run was Monday night.
The ferry travels across the 2,300-foot gap in the southern part of the lake. This is the same path which has been used by ferries since 1759.
