Dominique Wilkins, Hawks, scored 15 of his 32 points in the third quarter as Atlanta won its fifth straight, defeating Cleveland 109-98 on Monday night. Wilkins, 12 for 20 from the field with eight rebounds, made seven straight shots during the third period as the Hawks sent the Cavaliers to their sixth straight loss. The Week

Phoenix point guard Kevin Johnson was named the league’s player of the week for the period ending Sunday. Johnson averaged 29.3 points and 9.3 assists in three Suns victories, including a season-high 38 points and 12 assists against Orlando. STRATEGY

With Utah leading New Jersey 100-97 on Monday night, Jazz guard John Stockton fouled Nets guard Mookie Blaylock with four-tenths of a second remaining before he could attempt a potential game-tying 3-pointer. Blaylock made his first free throw, then intentionally missed his second. Cleveland center Brad Daugherty had 33 points and a career-high 18 rebounds Monday in the Cavaliers’ 109-98 loss to Atlanta. Daugherty was 13 of 23 from the field. STREAKS
