Overdose victim arrested after hitting Cabell sheriff’s deputy
SALT ROCK — The following information was provided by reports from the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office:
BATTERY ON POLICE: A 21-year-old Salt Rock man was arrested and charged with hitting a Cabell County sheriff’s deputy after regaining consciousness from an overdose, according to reports from the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to assist Cabell County EMS about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night as crews responded to an overdose in the 1200 block of Bowen Creek Road in Salt Rock. EMS advised that once they had arrived, the victim had regained consciousness and was fighting with another man at the home, reports state.
Once police arrived an approached the suspect, who was laying on the ground, the man reportedly punched the responding deputy in the leg while yelling for the deputy to stay away, reports state. The man continued to resist being handcuffed while on the ground, requiring EMS’s help in securing him.
The man was charged with misdemeanor battery on a police officer and obstruction, and transported to Western Regional Jail.

The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail:
Steven Charles Romans, 44, was jailed at 7:40 p.m. Sunday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. Bond was not set.
David Jeffery Jackson, 55, was jailed at 3:30 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with third-offense shoplifting. Bond was not set.
Tanner Austin Miller, 23, was incarcerated at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with fleeing with reckless indifference and possession of a controlled substance. Bond was not set.
