Hampton students celebrate Mole Day with a series of scientific experiments
On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Hampton High School AP Chemistry students participated in Mole Day, where they conducted a variety of experiments and presentations for visiting science classes from elsewhere in the building. The hands-on experiments are popular event due to the extreme visuals caused by a knowledge of science.
Mole Day is recognized by chemists, students and chemistry enthusiasts across the globe. It is celebrated between 6:02 a.m. and 6:02 p.m., on Oct. 23, making the date also the formula known as Avogadro’s number “6:02 10/23.” The formula comes from 19th century scientist Amedeo Avogadro, which defines the number of particles in one mole (mol) of substance, one of the seven base International System of units.
