Reedsburg fire department to host chili fundraiser Oct .6
Chili and crafts will come together as one of the annual fundraising events to support the Reedsburg Fire Department Oct. 6.
Reedsburg Fire Chief Craig Douglas said this years Harvest Fest Craft Fair will have about 45 booths and more could sign up by the day of the event. He said vendors will be set up by 9 a.m. inside the Reedsburg Fire Station at 131 South Park Street.
The chili lunch will start service shortly after the craft fair begins in the Reedsburg Recreation Department, across the street from the fire station. Douglas said those who haven’t received tickets though the departments donation mailing can receive one at the door the day of the event for $6.50; children are free. The meal includes a bowl of chili, a hot dog, and beverage.
Douglas said the event brings in an average of about $7,000 between the craft fair, chili lunch, and donations. The department also hosts a spaghetti supper in the spring to help raise money for equipment purchases. All of the funds raised last year helped purchase close to $30,000 worth of extrication equipment and the department was still looking into possible equipment purchases to use for this years funds.
“Hopefully we get a good turn out and people will come out and support us,” Douglas said.
