Vanna White’s Hometown Exercises Bragging Rights
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) _ The hometown of game show letter-turner Vanna White will exercise its bragging rights by putting up signs at the city limits reading ″North Myrtle Beach: Home of Vanna White.″
The North Myrtle Beach City Council voted 4-0 Tuesday to honor the co-star of ″Wheel of Fortune.″
″She’s our hometown girl, our All-American girl next door,″ said council member Jim Grappo, who made the proposal. ″We want the world to know we’re proud of her.″
Although Grappo said he hadn’t talked with Miss White about the signs, he said he’ll call her to see if the honor could be mentioned on the show.
When asked if Miss White’s pictorial in the May issue of Playboy has tarnished her image, Grappo said: ″I don’t think the general public is that Puritan-minded. She didn’t do any more than you see on the beach.″
