Franklin Langham, Tom Stankowski, Michael Allen, Stan Utley, Tim Simpson and Jeff Woodland opened with 67s on the Moreno Valley Ranch course.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Boston Bruins goalie Blaine Lacher, 5-1-1 with a 2.54 goals against average in February, was selected the NHL rookie of the month Thursday.

Lacher, signed as a free agent after leading Lake Superior State to the NCAA title last season, is 8-2-1 overall with a 1.99 GAA and two shutouts.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Pacers forward Dale Davis is expected to miss two games because of a dislocated right shoulder.

Davis, averaging 11.9 points and 9.6 rebounds in 50 games, was injured in the first quarter of Indiana's loss at Detroit on Wednesday night.

SUWANEE, Ga. (AP) _ The Atlanta Falcons traded punter Harold Alexander to the Detroit Lions on Thursday for an undisclosed conditional draft choice.

Alexander became expendable when the Falcons signed former Tampa Bay punter Dan Stryzinski two weeks ago.

The Falcons also signed offensive tackle Todd Norman, who spent last season on Chicago's practice squad.

TORONTO (AP) _ Ken Derret, manager of sports properties for Labatt Breweries, joined the NBA on Thursday as director of the league's Canadian marketing, sponsor and media programs.

``I'm just thrilled the NBA even considered me,'' Derret said. ``The NBA is an innovative group and I'm looking forward to the challenge.''

The Vancouver Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors are scheduled to begin play next season.
