Herd meets IUPUI in CIT

HUNTINGTON — Marshall found out its opponent for Tuesday’s first-round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) on Sunday evening.

The Thundering Herd takes on Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cam Henderson Center.

Marshall comes into the tournament with a 19-14 record after winning six straight games before falling to Southern Miss in the Conference USA quarterfinals.

For the Herd, Jon Elmore is 20 points away from breaking Skip Henderson’s mark for the program’s all-time scoring record.

Elmore leads Marshall at 20.3 points per game while fellow senior C.J. Burks is second with 17.3 points per game. Freshman Taevion Kinsey is also in double-figures at 10.0 points per game.

IUPUI, a member of the Horizon League, comes into Huntington at 16-16 overall after a loss to Wright State in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament last week. IUPUI was 8-10 in league play this season.
