T-birds trek to Coconino: Mohave will try to rebound from loss to Mingus

BULLHEAD CITY — The T-birds will play at 7 tonight at Coconino High School against the Panthers during an Arizona Interscholastic Association 4A Grand Canyon Region football game.

The Panthers’ record is 4-2 overall, 1-2 in region, and the T-birds’ record is 2-4 overall, 1-2 in region.

The T-birds lost to the Mingus High School Marauders 41-20 at Mohave High School on Sept. 28. T-birds senior running back Will Robinzine rushed for 115 yards on 23 carries with two TD runs.

Robinzine has rushed for 991 yards on 151 carries with 12 TD runs to lead Mohave’s offense. He is ranked fourth in rushing yards in the 4A conference.

Mohave senior quarterback Brent Moore completed 3-for-5 passes for 101 yards with one TD pass against the Marauders.

Moore’s TD pass went for 62 yards to senior tight end Seth Perez-Velasco.

The Panthers fell to the Bradshaw Mountain High School Bears 28-14 on Sept. 28.

“They are playing with fire under first-year (head) coach (Mike) Moran,” said T-birds head coach Rudy Olvera about the Panthers. “They take care of business on the line — both sides.

“We are looking forward to a tough, hard-nosed game.”

Sophomore running back Zach Bennett rushed for 108 yards on 22 carries with one TD run to lead the Panthers’ offense against the Bears.

Bennett has rushed for 826 yards on 98 carries with six TD runs to lead Coconino’s offense. He is ranked seventh in rushing in the 4A conference.
