FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) _ Angie Gorton scored 18 points, including four free throws in the final 40 seconds, and Shannon Strecker added 19 points as No. 19 Colorado State beat Brigham Young 75-65 Saturday.
Ashley Venekamp added 12 points and had a steal in the final minute for Colorado State (19-4, 8-1 Mountain West). Erin Thorn scored 17 points for BYU (15-7, 6-3), which came in with a five-game winning streak.
Trailing 61-47, BYU went on a 13-4 run, including 10 points from Jennifer Leitner, who wound up with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Thorn’s 3-pointer with 41 seconds left got BYU within 70-65, but Gorton’s free throws sealed the victory.
Colorado State shot 59 percent in the first half and hit seven 3-pointers to lead 42-27 at the break. CSU missed its first five shots in the second half, but Brigham Young managed only a 5-0 run.
