Gingerbread Building in Dracut

DRACUT -- The Dracut Rotary Club will host its 12th annual Gingerbread House Competition on Dec. 1 at Harmony Hall in Dracut. The public is invited to view the gingerbread creations and enjoy music, snacks, coffee, and cocoa, according to a release. There will also be free gingerbread cookies for children to decorate all day and Santa Claus will be dropping by from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Winners will be notified at 7 p.m. For more information or to enter please contact Susan Neary at Dracut_Rotary_Gingerbread_House@comcast.net .


Photographer’s work on display

WESTFORD -- A Groton photographer’s work will be featured at the Parish Center of the Arts in December after he was selected as the Artist of the Month. More than 40 of Jack McCrossan’s photos will be displayed in a solo exhibit called “Uniquely New England.” His work captures the daily feel of life in the northeast, from coastlines to cottages.

McCrossan will be featured at an opening reception at the Center on Dec. 8, and his work will be available for viewing every Sunday in December from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.


A cappella chorus in Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY -- The Merrimack Valley Chorus will host an afternoon a cappella performance later this month featuring a variety of contemporary and patriotic songs. The group will perform 17 songs in four-part “barbershop harmony,” it announced in a press release. The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the Wynn Middle School. Also performing at the event will be The Eight Tracks, a semi-professional Boston a cappella group. Tickets are available at www.merrimackvalleyacapella.com for $18 each.


Memory test to fight Alzheimer’s

METHUEN -- ActivMed Practices and Research, based in Methuen, will be holding free and confidential memory screenings as part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s National Memory Screening Program. The screenings will take place on Wednesdays, beginning on Nov. 28. Those interested in a screening can come to 421 Merrimack St., Suite 203 in Methuen, from between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on those days.

Free CPR training in Wilmington

WILMINGTON -- The Wilmington Police Department is offering free Family & Friends CPR Courses for those interested in learning the lifesaving skill. Attendees can learn CPR techniques for adults, children and infants. The courses are taught by certified instructors within the department.

The courses are open to anyone who lives or works in Wilmington.

The next courses will take place on Dec. 7 and 8.
