Man, boy charged in 8-year-old girl’s shooting death
GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) — Police say two South Carolina teenagers have been arrested in a shooting that killed a North Carolina girl.
The Herald-Journal reports 8-year-old Kamryn “Mya” Montara Lamya Bradley had been playing with a cousin inside a Gaffney apartment when gunfire sprayed it in August. A bullet had struck the Shelby girl’s head.
Gaffney police Chief Chris Skinner says 18-year-old Greyson Hughey and a 16-year-old were arrested Thursday. Skinner says the Spartanburg boy was charged with murder and the Gaffney man was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
It is unclear if the teenagers have lawyers.
Skinner did not release the boy’s name or a motive. He believes the juvenile should be tried as an adult.
Skinner says there could be more arrests in the ongoing investigation.
