Man facing two years after crashing car into kids

February 5, 2019

BRIDGEPORT — A local man is facing up to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to crashing his car into a woman and two children outside a restaurant.

Allen Pearson, 37, pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Frank Iannotti to one count of second-degree assault.

The judge said he would impose a sentence of up to five years, suspended after Pearson serves two years and followed by three years of probation when Pearson is sentenced on March 19.

On May 31, police said twin 8-year-old boys were standing outside the Junco Restaurant on Harral Avenue just after noon when Pearson drove his car right at them. Shanta Jordan, 32, saw the car headed toward the boys and leaped in front of it hoping to protect them, police said.

All three were pinned by the car against a wall.

Police said Jordan suffered a fractured hip while one boy suffered fractured legs and his brother sustained bruises and abrasions.

No test was done to determine if Pearson was driving under the influence at the time of the crash but a day later he was arrested by Stamford police and charged with possession of a hallucinogen and possession with intent to sell after Stamford police said they found PCP on him.
