NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are opening slightly higher, clawing back some of the ground they lost the day before.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 65 points, or 0.4 percent, to 17,858 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time Tuesday. The Dow lost 107 points the day before.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained three points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,087. The Nasdaq composite increased four points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,034.

Aetna rose 3 percent after The Wall Street Journal reported that UnitedHealth Group approached the rival health insurer about a deal.

European markets were slightly lower. Greece's main stock index sank 4 percent as talks between the country and its creditors remain stymied.

Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.33 percent.
