Florida police fatally shoot man they say reached for gun
CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Florida police say a man has died after they shot him because he ignored their commands and reached for a gun.
Clearwater Police responded to complaints Saturday of a man waving a gun in a threatening manner at an intersection. Two officers eventually tracked down 39-year-old Bryan Bernard Wallace and said they saw a gun fall from his waistband as they talked with him.
Authorities say the officers commanded him not to reach for his gun, but they said he did and the officers fired in fear for their lives.
Police say a firearm was recovered from the scene and the Tampa Bay Time reports a witness also said he watched as Wallace ignored police commands.
Wallace was pronounced dead at the hospital.
