Point of Interest: Day care, co-working space planned for historic Stamford post office
We now know just what will go into the old U.S. Post Office on Atlantic Street after its owner, Cappelli, a developer from White Plains, N.Y., asked the Zoning Board for changes after scrapping a plan to open a food hall in the vacant brick postal building.
The building will house a 164-child day care center, and a gym on the ground floor. The remaining 28,100 square feet will become a co-working office space. The day care will be a branch of The Learning Experience, which has locations across the U.S., including three in Connecticut. The other locations are in New Haven, Newtown and Cromwell.
Cappelli’s attorney, Amy Souchuns, told the Zoning Board an employee will lead guided tours for anyone who wants to see the historic post office, according to meeting minutes.
