Fox Chapel Mayor Alex Scott is inviting residents to a meet and greet with the borough’s emergency personnel on Sept. 15.

“This can be a time to thank our volunteer fire department and police for the extensive job they did related to the July floods,” Scott said. “These are the people, along with the public works department, who put in many overtime hours to help local citizens and begin the needed cleanup and repair.”

Heavy storms earlier this summer sent emergency crews scrambling to rescue stranded motorists from flooding on Fox Chapel Road, Squaw Run and Field Club Road, while downed trees made it difficult to navigate other streets like Hunt Road.

“Meet Your First Responders” will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the municipal building, 401 Fox Chapel Road.

Fire trucks, police vehicles and ambulance equipment will be on display, Scott said.

The borough’s K-9 officer, Falco, will be on-hand with handler, Officer Rob Katich. Overflow parking is available at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, at the intersection of Field Club and Fox Chapel roads.
