Packers, Niners Swap Picks
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) _ Going for quality over quantity in his final draft as general manager of the Green Bay Packers, Ron Wolf swapped five of his team’s draft picks for three of San Francisco’s on Friday night.
In the second round, the Packers exchanged the 47th overall pick for San Francisco’s 41st overall selection. Green Bay also moved up in the third round, sending the 71st overall pick to the 49ers for the 80th and 82nd picks.
The Packers also got a fourth-rounder, which they didn’t have, by sending a sixth-round pick (179th) and a seventh-rounder (222nd) for the Niners’ 105th overall selection.
Green Bay now has six selections in this weekend’s draft instead of eight.
The Niners own the ninth overall selection in the first round and the Packers own the 10th, although they’d like to move way up to take an elite player such as Florida defensive lineman Gerard Warren.
