Children’s Museum to close for two weeks in March
BURLINGTON — The Children’s Museum of Skagit County is preparing for its big move, which will bring a two-week closure while the organization transitions to its new space, according to a news release.
The last day at the museum’s current location in the Cascade Mall will be Sunday, March 3. There will be a celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. to say goodbye to the location that housed the museum for almost 11 years.
On Saturday, March 16, the museum will reopen in its new location at The Outlet Shoppes at Burlington.
At 15,400 square feet, the new location allows the museum room to expand from its previous 11,000 square feet. Only about half of that space will be utilized initially. The grand opening and the completion of construction is expected to be in late spring.
The larger space allows for more room to store toys and new exhibits and will offer family resource rooms and community gathering spaces. The museum’s preschool program will have room to expand as well.
