NEW YORK (AP) — A Malian man wanted in the killing of a Defense Department official in Niger in 2000 has been indicted in a U.S. court.

The indictment charging Alhassane Ould Mohamed with murder was unsealed Wednesday.

Mohamed is accused of shooting to death William Bultemeier as he left a restaurant in the Niger capital, Niamey. A Marine who came to Bultemeier's aid was wounded.

Prosecutors declined to discuss the timing of the indictment and Mohamed's suspected whereabouts.
