ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — The Rochester Police Department says officers have shot and killed a dog while conducting a raid.

Department officials say a police SWAT team was executing a high-risk warrant early Thursday morning at a city residence involving weapons and narcotics. Investigator Jacqueline Shuman says officers were charged by an aggressive pit bull, which they shot and killed.

The dog's owners were on scene but weren't involved in the investigation.

The raid resulted in the recovery of multiple firearms and an unspecified amount of narcotics. A person of interest was taken into custody.
