NWS: Rain moving into the region later this week
The region is expected to see somewhere between 1 to 3 inches of rain later this week as a system moves through the area.
The National Weather Service said the storm will hit sometime between 7 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday. And rainfall totals are expected to hover between 1 to 3 inches, with possibly coastal flooding in vulnerable areas.
The Danbury area and the Bridgeport area are predicted to see just over 2 inches of rain.
As the storm nears and predictions become more clear, a flood watch might be needed for some areas, NWS said.
There is a possibility for winds between 15 and 20 mph, with wind gusts up to 30 to 35 mph.
“This may down a few tree limbs, trees and power lines or cause structural damage,” NWS said. “Isolated power outages are likely.”
But, as it goes with most storm systems, the weather service said its experts will know more as the storm gets closer.
“Specific details on amount of rain, coastal flooding and wind speed forecasts will be fine-tuned as the event nears,” NWS said.
