Miss America Pageant Fires 2 VPs
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) _ The Miss America Organization has fired two vice presidents, less than two weeks after the resignation of the man who hired them.
The two executives were dismissed last week in a cost-cutting move, interim Chief Executive Officer George Bauer said Monday.
``I don’t think it’s a secret that we had to examine our operating expenses,″ Bauer said.
He said he did not foresee more firings, but that more cost cutting was expected.
John Kincade, vice president of marketing, and Libbi Taylor, vice president of operations since January, had been hired by former CEO Robert M. Renneisen, Jr.
Kincade, who was hired in July 2000, could not be reached for comment Monday; his home telephone number is unlisted. Taylor did not return a telephone call seeking comment.
Renneisen, a former casino executive, resigned abruptly last week amid growing disenchantment with the way he was running the beauty pageant.
