AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Mehmet Okur scored 33 points as Turkey beat the United States 75-72 Saturday in the Pistons International Tournament.
Ibrahim Kutluay added 21 points for Turkey, which is preparing for the men’s World Championships to be played Aug. 29-Sept. 8 in Indianapolis.
Later Saturday, Emanuel Ginobili led six Argentina players in double figures with 17 points in a 108-74 victory over Lebanon.
Junior Burrough scored 20 points and Greg Stempin had 19 points 10 rebounds for the U.S. team, a collection of free agents who will not compete at Indianapolis.
Okur, a 6-foot-11 forward signed Wednesday by the Detroit Pistons to a multiyear contract, made 11 of 15 shots, was 10-of-14 on free throws and matched the U.S. team’s total with four blocked shots.
