NEW YORK (AP) _ Overnight ratings for Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night were the highest for any non-NBA Finals game in four years.

NBC’s ratings for the Lakers’ 112-106 overtime victory over the Kings were up two-thirds from last year’s comparable game.

The game drew a 16.9 rating with a 27 share in the nation’s 53 largest markets, covering 65 percent of the country. Last year, Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals between Milwaukee and Philadelphia had a 10.2 rating and a 16 share in the overnights.

The highest period Sunday, from 10 to 10:30 p.m. EDT, which covered most of the fourth quarter and overtime, had a 23.2 rating and a 34 share.

The overall overnight ratings were the highest since Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final between Indiana and Chicago on May 31, 1998, which got a 20.7 rating and a 34 share.

The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use. Share is the percentage of homes with TVs in use.
