Green Bay tackle Tootie Robbins sustained a season-ending right trice

December 6, 1993

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) _ Green Bay tackle Tootie Robbins sustained a season-ending right tricep tear in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears.

Robbins was tentatively scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning. Joe Sims will take Robbins’ place.

″It’s just frustrating right now,″ Robbins said. ″I thought we were having a really good season. I was having more fun this year than last. It was a blast.″

Robbins, 35, said he hasn’t made a decision on whether he will come back next season.

The Packers were still reeling Monday from the loss to Chicago in which Green Bay dominated but lost 30-17. The loss threw the NFC Central lead into a tie between Green Bay, Chicago and Detroit, all at 7-5. Minnesota is a game back.

Coach Mike Holmgren found himself again defending quarterback Brett Favre. Favre completed 36 of 54 passes for a career-high 402 yards but was intercepted three times - two returned for touchdowns. Chicago’s defense also forced Favre to fumble and ran it in for a touchdown.

″I just have to keep him going because he’s a fine player,″ Holmgren said. ″He’s young. We put together an interception reel and talked about them.

″It’s just a phase that young quarterbacks have to go through in this league. I don’t imagine that there have been many that did not go through something like this.″
