Three arrests made, multiple stolen vehicles recovered by Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a Kingman residence Dec. 10 after receiving reports of suspicious activity. Deputies found three vehicles in the home’s driveway, and observed the front door to be open. According to the report, two of the vehicles present were reported stolen.
A woman attempted to flee upon deputies’ arrival, the report said, but she was detained before she was able to escape. More units were called to provide backup to responding deputies, and began a sweep of the property. At the rear of the property, deputies observed a silver vehicle with two men were found within. One of them, identified as Flagstaff resident Eric C. Powell, 31, was revealed to have active warrants for his arrest. Powell was searched, according to deputies, and a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine was found on his person. A records check allegedly revealed his vehicle to have been reported stolen, as well.
A search of a nearby shed yielded four more suspects hiding within. All were detained, and two of the suspects – identified as Codi M. Damore, 48, of Kingman, and Michael S. Bartmus, 40, of Tennessee, were also found to have active warrants for their arrest. Damore was later found to be in possession of the keys to one of the allegedly stolen vehicles. According to the report, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana were located during the search of the residence and shed.
Powell was charged with theft, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Damore was charged with theft of a means of transportation. Bartmus was arrested on four active arrest warrants.
