Mayor of Normal wins snowplow competition
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — The mayors of Bloomington and Normal have raced in a snowplow driving competition and the mayor Normal came out on top.
Normal Mayor Chris Koos and Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner drove blade-equipped, three-quarter-ton pickup trucks through an obstacle course on Friday. The mayors had to navigate plastic barrels and cones on the timed course. The Pantagraph reports (http://bit.ly/17J6c3B) that Koos won and accepted a “golden snowplow” trophy.
Real snowplow drivers were competing on the same course in the American Public Works Association Illinois Chapter Roadeo competition.
Even though he won the mayoral competition, Koos admits he’s not ready to drive a city plow. He says if tried a supervisor would tell him to “get out and load salt.”
