DID STAR OF MTV SHOW SHOOT A SHARK OFF FLORIDA WATERS?

Florida wildlife officials are investigating a video that appears to show an MTV reality star shooting a hammerhead shark off the side of a boat. The Bradenton Herald reports the man shooting the shark appears to be Alex Kompothecras of MTV’s “Siesta Key.” Kompothecras has apologized, telling People magazine he “would not make those decisions again.”

FLORIDA SINKHOLE GROWING AGAIN

Officials in Florida say a sinkhole that swallowed up two homes last month has grown unexpectedly bigger. Pasco County officials say an 80-foot (24.3 meters) long by 10-foot (3 meters) wide section collapsed overnight Friday. The sinkhole in a suburb of Tampa had been 235 feet (72 meters) wide and 50 feet (15 meters) deep previously

FLORIDA CITIES MAY SUE DRUG MAKERS OVER OPIOID DEATHS

A Florida city is considering suing companies that make and distribute prescription painkillers, alleging they are partly to blame for a rise in overdose deaths. Jacksonville officials say they responded to 1,000 more overdose calls in 2016 than the previous year. The city predicts it will spend more than $4 million to transport overdose victims in 2017. Delray Beach officials already hired the firm. Attorneys say drug makers should be held responsible for additional costs incurred by cities.

SECURITY GUARD, FRONT DESK MANAGER AT FLORIDA RESORT KILLED DURING BOTCHED ROBBERY

Police are investigating the deaths of two men in an apparent “robbery gone bad” at a beachside resort on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming said during a news conference Friday officers were called to Zota Beach Resort about 3 a.m. and found two bodies. Police say video from surveillance cameras at the hotel shows the suspect in the slayings.

GOOD SAMARITANS LIFT JEEP OFF DRIVER PINNED UNDERNEATH

Boynton Beach police say 49-year-old Gregory Graham crashed into another vehicle and was ejected from his Jeep on Friday. A group of witnesses rushed to action and helped lift the vehicle off of him. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
