Two Disqualified After Fish Found In Boat
PEMBROKE, Mass. (AP) _ Two men face a court hearing Thursday on whether they will be charged with attempted larceny after officials of a $1,000 fishing tournament said they found live fish in their boat before it entered the water.
Richard Bernier, 39, and his brother, David, 30, of Middleboro, were disqualified from the June 30 tournament after the fish were found in a gear compartment of their boat, said tournament director Michael Clemente.
Clemente acknowledged Tuesday that there are no written rules that fish entered in the contest must be caught in the lake where it’s held on the day of competition, but added, ″Every fisherman knows that’s an unwritten rule.″
Richard Bernier said, ″It’s not the truth and I hope that the truth will be brought out at the hearing.″
