Jersey Mike’s set to open Greenwich store

February 1, 2019

GREENWICH — Fast-growing sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s plans to open its first store in town this summer.

The new eatery will be located at 1259 E. Putnam Ave., in the Riverside Commons shopping center. It will join several locations elsewhere in the state, including storefronts in Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, Wilton and Ridgefield. More than 2,000 Jersey Mike’s shops operate nationwide.

“We felt the Greenwich community would appreciate a premium sub sandwich,” said Greenwich franchise owner Troy Davidson. “We look forward to meeting our new neighbors.”

In 2018, Jersey Mike’s opened 168 locations and recorded a nearly 5 percent increase in same-store sales. It ranked as the fastest-growing sandwich chain in Franchise Times’ Top 200 list for 2018.

The menu features a range of hot and cold subs, wraps and kids’ meals.

“Red wine vinegar and an olive oil blend — it’s how a Jersey Mike’s sub gets its exquisite zing,” says an excerpt on the Jersey Mike’s website. “It’s how bites get boosted, and a great sub becomes an even better one. The juice adds that certain something extra. An exclamation point.”

Jersey Mike’s traces its origins to Mike’s Subs, which opened in 1956 in the seaside town of Point Pleasant, N.J.

At Riverside Commons, other dining and food establishments include Chipotle, Chopt, DiMare Pastry Shop, Pomodoro Pizzeria & Trattoria, Starbucks and an Acme grocery store.
