Interstate lane closures suspended for Labor Day weekend
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Transportation officials say they will not close any lanes on South Carolina interstates unless there is an emergency over the Labor Day weekend.
The Department of Transportation says it expects heavy traffic between holiday travelers and folks going to the home football openers for Clemson and South Carolina.
The DOT suspended any construction project that would cause lanes to close until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Major projects are taking place on Interstate 85 in the Upstate, Interstate 77 around Columbia and on Interstate 26 heading into Charleston.
