SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Brian Bruso set career highs with 21 points and 13 rebounds and San Diego held visiting Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo to 13 second-half points Tuesday night in an 82-44 victory over the Mustangs.

Bruso, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward, made 8 of his 13 field goal attempts and helped turn the game into a rout early in the second half.

San Diego (8-8) led 38-31 at halftime before scoring 12 straight points to start the second half. Ryan Williams hit a layup to start the run; Doug Harris made a 3-pointer; Bruso added four consecutive points, and Val Hill ended the spurt with another 3-pointer.

Cal Poly (1-16) was held to a school record-low nine percent shooting in the second half, making only three of its 32 field goal attempts. The Mustangs missed their first 17 shots of the half. Cal Poly's first basket came on David Dineen's 3-pointer with 10:35 left and San Diego leading 64-38.

The Toreros, who held a 51-28 rebounding advantage, also received 13 points from Sean Flannery and a career-high 10 points by Hill.

The Mustangs, who made only 25 percent of their field goal attempts in the game, were led by Damien Levesque's 12 points. Bucky Tucker and Dineen each added 11 for Cal Poly.

San Diego defeated Cal Poly 87-71 on Nov. 30 at San Luis Obispo in the second game of the season for both teams.
