August 3, 2018

HERSCHER — A 24-year-old Herscher man sustained life-threatening injuries in a Thursday morning crash after a semi-truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Illinois Route 115 and Lehigh Road.

Tyler E. Frantz was airlifted to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. At about 5:30 a.m., Frantz was eastbound on Route 115 in a 2014 Ford Transit minivan when a southbound semi failed to stop on Lehigh Road and pulled into the state route.

Frantz’s minivan collided with the semi. A secondary collision then occurred between the minivan’s driver’s side and the semi’s passenger side.

The semi driver, Kenzell W. Campbell, 23, of Glenwood, was cited by Illinois State Police for failure to yield at a stopped intersection. Campbell was not injured in the crash.
