St. Mary’s Hospital earns ‘A’ for patient safety

AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes St. Mary’s efforts in meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.

The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.

“Our entire care team views patient safety as our top priority,” according to Chris Shride, president, AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital. “We are pleased that The Leapfrog Group has recognized the hard work and commitment of our physicians, nurses and associates to meet the health needs of everyone in and around Kankakee.”

St. Mary’s was one of 10 AMITA Health Hospitals in Illinois and one of 855 across the U.S. awarded an A in the fall 2018 update of grades.
