2 people held in connection with Jefferson County slaying
FAIRBURY, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a suspect has led officers to the body of a man believed to have been killed July 1 at a park in southeast Nebraska.
The body was recovered Monday morning and is scheduled for an autopsy Wednesday to confirm his identity and the cause of his death.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday that the suspect is one of two being held in connection with the slaying. Investigators found spent shell casings in a portion of Crystal Springs Park just outside Fairbury.
Court records don’t show that the two have been formally charged. One is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and other crimes. The other is being held on suspicion of being an accessory to second-degree murder, use of a weapon, drug possession and other crimes.
