DAYTON — Colton Halata rushed 25 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns, leading Friendswood to a 33-20 come-from-behind win over Dayton Friday night.
The Broncos took a 20-18 lead into the fourth quarter, but Halata scored on a four-yard run with 4:22 left for a 24-20 Mustang lead. Friendswood running back Luke Revere added a 7-yard scoring run with 2:14 showing to stretch the lead to 31-20.
The Mustangs’ capped their scoring with a safety at the 2:03 mark.
Friendswood held a 10-0 lead in the second quarter, courtesy of Luke Grden’s 7-yard scoring pass to Christian Lee, and Austin Alvarez’s 27-yard field goal.
However Dayton’s Tyres Brooks scored on a 2-yard run, and Bronco quarterback A.J. Nail threw a 4-yard scoring pass to Jermond Lovely.
Halata answered with a 1-yard TD burst for the Mustangs before Brooks’ 11-yard scoring run gave the Broncos their 20-18 edge.
Grden completed 10 of 24 passes and was intercepted twice, and the Mustangs also lost one fumble. Dayton committed just one turnover.
Friendswood hosts Clear Brook next Friday. The Wolverines defeated La Porte, 28-6.
