Former UND quarterback Freund named offensive coordinator
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Former University of North Dakota quarterback Danny Freund has been named the team’s offensive coordinator.
Head coach Bubba Schweigert says Freund has been elevated from wide receivers coach. He succeeds Paul Rudolph, whose contract was not renewed after a 6-5 season.
Freund just finished his eighth season on the UND staff. He’s been the wide receivers coach since Schweigert was hired in 2014. Before that he served as quarterbacks coach and running backs coach.
Freund went 16-6 as a two-year starting quarterback for UND in 2007 and 2008, finishing his career as the program’s most accurate passer with a 68.9 percent career completion percentage.
