MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Bill Hall and the Milwaukee Brewers needed a little extra time Friday night to figure out who was supposed to be batting.

In the bottom of the second inning, Hall came to the plate against the Chicago Cubs. Problem was, the seventh spot in the Milwaukee lineup was due up _ and Hall was hitting eighth.

After Hall took ball one, Brewers manager Ned Yost called him back and sent up Keith Osik, the scheduled hitter.

Although it was an odd occurrence, it was not an illegal one. Batting out of order can be called only after the incorrect hitter's turn at bat is completed.

No matter, the mix up didn't help the Brewers. Osik struck out and Hall eventually popped out.
