Trial begins in Easter morning slaying
Jury selection began today in the murder trial of a Fort Wayne man accused of killing Javon Burnett on Easter morning.
Tyrion McNair, 25, is charged with shooting Burnett, 26, to death outside an apartment complex near Memorial Coliseum on April 1. His three-day trial in Allen Superior Court began today.
McNair, who is facing federal drug charges in a separate case, is one of two men charged in the slaying. Joshua Smiley pleaded guilty last week to assisting a criminal and is listed among a group of witnesses that could testify.
A motive for the killing is unclear.
