Couple to Be Married On Valentine’s Day In Remembrance of Grandparents
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) _ Lisa Margaret Yvette Rivers says her married name will be Lisa M.Y. Valentine after her wedding Sunday, but that’s not the only special thing about marrying Gary Valentine on Valentine’s Day.
The wedding date is also a tribute to the groom’s grandparents, Millie Valentine, who was buried on Valentine’s Day 1964, and Dennis Valentine, who was buried on Valentine’s Day 1974.
″It seems like everything just fits,″ said Ms. Rivers, who turned 24 on Thursday. ″He always had a dream because of his name being so special. When we first started the wedding plans it seemed everyone was concerned about the material things and people forget about the most important thing - love.″
″I think it’s sweet and romantic,″ she said. ″It’s like a fairy tale come true.″
″We think it’s nice if the Valentine name means as much to our kids as to us,″ Valentine said. ″The heart significance or symbolism has kept us close. We are very caring people. Maybe it was the gift of God that I was given that name.″
Valentine and Ms. Rivers, both small-business owners, met at a country- wester n dance 5 1/2 years ago.
