Local Roundup: Reynolds Leads Lunenburg to Victory
LUNENBURG -- Jason Reynolds finished with 15 points to lead the Lunenburg boys’ basketball team to a 53-36 win over visiting Clinton on Thursday.
Reynolds scored eight of his 15 in the third quarter as the Blue Knights (2-5) surged to their second win of the season. Will Feinen (9 points), Samuel Tibbetts (8 points) and Cooper Mathews (7 points) also played well in the victory.
Emily Dumford erupted for 19 points to lead Lunenburg (4-2), but it wasn’t enough to overcome a dazzling, 26-point effort from Clinton’s Neleesha Meunier. Catherine Swift added 11 points and Grace Hedlund scored eight for the Blue Knights.
North Brookfield 36
Rose Doyle scored 11 points to lead Trivium (1-3) in the home loss. Teammates Teresa Trettel (4 points) and Sarah Iacoviello (2 points) rounded out the scoring for the hosts. Sydney Messenger led North Brookfield (3-3) with 14 points.
St. Mary’s 29
Claire Peterson scored a game-high 11 points and Anna Pettirossi chipped in with nine points for Sizer (1-5) in the hard-fought home loss. St. Mary’s (2-4), of Worcester, was paced by Chloe Johnson’s 10-point effort.
Alice Mead scored for Leominster/St. Bernard’s, assisted by Sophie Schuster and Riley Eldredge, and goalie Colby Lane finished with six saves in Wednesday’s loss. Kerryn O’Connell scored twice for Algonquin.
