Holy Cross 55, Brown 0
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Tom Ciaccio passed for 312 yards and three touchdowns as Holy Cross spoiled Brown’s homecoming by defeating the Bruins 55-0 Saturday.
Holy Cross (4-1-1), ranked 20th in Division I-AA, overpowered their Ivy League opponents, holding Brown (0-5) to minus-26 yards on 23 carries.
Ciaccio started the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Michael Lewis with 9:16 left in the first quarter. Seven minutes later, Pat Kenny kicked a 37-yard field goal to make it 10-0.
A 2-yard run by Joe Segreti and a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ciaccio to Joey Riley gave Holy Cross a 24-0 halftime lead.
The Crusaders scored on their first five second half possessions to stretch the lead to 55 points.
Brown nearly broke the shutout when Rod Torbert caught Scott Camp’s pass and scampered 46 yards to the Holy Cross 1-yard line with 1:06 left in the game. But on the next play, Camp was intercepted by lineman Pete Dankert at the goal line.
