Dynamite on DC-10 Was Practice Stick
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A stick of dynamite found aboard a West German airliner may have been put there by Bavarian police who used the plane to train dogs to find explosives, authorities say.
According to a security officer for Condor Airlines, the dog-training exercises included use of dynamite, said Sgt. Jay Russel of the Tampa International Airport police department.
The unarmed explosive was found Saturday under a rear jump seat of the Condor DC-10 at the airport and taken off the plane by an attendant.
Such training missions are not unusual, the Tampa airport security office said.
