Open mic time at Bob Parker Music Festval
It was open mic afternoon Sunday at the Bob Parker Winter Music Festival that supports music education for youth by funding the Bob Parker Music Enrichment Fund scholarship through the Community Foundation of Mason County.
The scholarship was established by William Dunn in honor of the retired Ludington High School band director.
Parker, his wife Elaine and daughter Maddie were among those who performed Sunday. Local musician Mike Luusua, who organized and emceed Sunday’s event, also performed.
The Manistee duo Anthony and Jerri Dziabuda, Manistee’s Tim Krause and Ludington-based Third Coast Gipsy Jazz Band also performed.
Different combinations of musicians sat in on various songs.
Elaine Parker sang as Bob Parker played ukulele on a couple songs, including “Puff the Magic Dragon.”
Bob Parker switched to piano for duets with his daugher, Maddie.
Maddie and Bob Parker torched through a song with Third Coast Gipsy Jazz, whose members are Stephen Plummer, Kaedin Plummer and Jason “Harvey” Hargreaves.
