BALTIMORE (AP) _ Two children died and a man was critically injured early Friday in a rowhouse fire caused by a firebomb, police said.
Shanita Moore, 5, and her 4-year-old brother, Anthony, were killed in the fire, said fire Capt. Pat Flynn.
Leroy Bess, 36, was critically injured when he jumped from a third floor window to escape the flames.
Seven other people in the house at the time escaped without injury, Flynn said.
Capt. Robert Hatoff, who investigated the fire, said someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the large front window of the three-story rowhouse.
Bess, a guest in the home, was asleep in a second-floor bedroom when the living room burst into flames, Hatoff said. He ran upstairs but was unable to reach the children and was forced to jump from the third-floor window.
Authorities said they knew of no motive for the fire. The battery had been removed from the smoke detector, they said.
