AI and Analytics Put the ‘Human’ Back into Human Capital Management (HCM), Nucleus Research Technology Value Matrix Finds
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 5, 2018--Vendors that help companies attract and retain top talent while optimizing productivity lead the Nucleus Research 2018 Technology Value Matrix for Human Capital Management (HCM). Single-suite cloud applications that simplify integration for embedded analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) are delivering the most value with prescriptive HCM insights that expand into areas such as schedule optimization and planning.
The leaders in this year’s Value Matrix include: Ceridian, Infor, Oracle, SAP SuccessFactors, SumTotal Systems and Ultimate Software.
“HCM Value Matrix leaders are setting themselves apart by moving solution functionality beyond reporting by embracing embedded prescriptive analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to further enhance value. Rounding out features for the more robust suites within the matrix, vendors are also including succession planning, talent management, collaboration and advanced compliance capabilities,” said Rebecca Wettemann, VP of research at Nucleus Research.
Nucleus found that more than 60% of customers are already operating in the cloud with most hold-outs looking to migrate. As on-premise HCM deployments quickly lose their luster, four key areas have been identified that customers should now consider when evaluating cloud HCM deployments: initial deployment costs, time to value, overall usability and the impact of upgrades affecting accessibility.
“Increasingly, organizations are turning to single-suite applications as cross-market integration becomes a greater business driver. There is a growing need to be able to share and use data in real-time across departments, and even best-of-breed applications may find it hard to stay in business without some form of turnkey integration. This is where single-suite solutions can shine,” said Trevor White, analyst at Nucleus Research.
Critical to maintaining leader positions in future iterations, next steps for leaders in the value matrix should include integrated collaboration across their suites and real-time access to data for decision making from recruiting and onboarding to retention and separation.
