HOOVER, Ala. (AP) _ Michael Jordan drove in his first run of the season and Troy Fryman had two hits and scored two runs as the Birmingham Barons beat the Knoxville Smokies 4-1 Monday night for their first win of the season.

The Barons, snapping a four-game losing streak, went ahead in the second when Fryman doubled, Jordan sacrificed Kerry Valrie hit an RBI groundout.

Fryman led off the fourth with his second double of the game, and scored on an error pitcher Dennis Gray.

Brimingham gots two runs in the seventh. Randy Hood doubled, Steve Sax walked, Mike Robertson hit a sacrifice fly and Chris Snowpek and Fryman walked, loading the bases. Jordan then drove an infield single up the middle.

The Smokies scored in the ninth when Todd Steverson singled and came around on an error by shortstop Glenn DiSarcina.

Al Levine (1-0) allowed five hits in seven innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Gray (0-1) allowed two runs and six hits in five innings, struck out four and walked three.
