Massachusetts Gov. Patrick to lead trip to Israel
BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is continuing his globe-trotting ways with another trade mission — this time to Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Patrick said the goal of the nine-day trip from May 27 to June 4 is to expand opportunities for economic development and job creation in the innovation economy.
In 2013, Massachusetts was Israel’s 12th largest import partner within the United States, with Israel importing $212 million in goods and services.
Newton Mayor Setti Warren, Boston Economic Development Chief John Barros and the heads of various state agencies will be joining Patrick on portions of the trip.
It’s a return trip to Israel for Patrick, who led a trade mission to the nation in 2011.
Patrick just returned from a weeklong trade mission to Panama City and Mexico City in March.
